I apologize for the sporadic postings so far. Once I get moved in to my new place (beginning of January), I will hopefully be getting regular internet access. Up until then I will be dependent on Internet Cafes, as free WIFI access points are scarce and those that may be found are mostly in bars which lend themselves to other distractions.
While we are still working at verifying all the information, it appears that I will be able to keep Pattaya as a base of operations and only have to leave the country briefly every 60 days. I will need to go to the Thai Embassy in Penang, Malaysia and acquire tourist visa which from all reports is relatively easy. Eventually I will tie my departures to my other wandering destinations.
This means that I can set up long term housing in Pattaya. We have been looking at several condos in the area and found a new one with 16 units halfway between Jontiem and Pattaya. The units are furnished studio apartments with bathrooms and televisions. The rent is 5000 baht (approximately $150 US) a month.
Random hasn’t decided yet just how long he will be staying, though it looks like it will be at least until March or April so he may be taking an apartment next door to me.
